City council approves major redevelopment plans for BC Place

Vancouver City Council has approved major redevelopment plans for BC Place. Mayor Sam Sullivan says it's a great project, and will ensure that BC Place gets revitalized with a new roof and art gallery.
He adds, almost everything except for the roof will be complete before the 2010 Olympics. He says approval of the project means we now have a real chance of the Whitecaps playing soccer in the stadium.
The province says development and the sale, or lease, of lands around BC Place are expected to generate more than $100 million towards the cost of the new roof and upgrades.
